The question: How can you enjoy life, parent awesomely, meet the demands of a full time job and a side hustle?

The answer: Pose and repose.

In yoga you enter into one challenging pose after another. You hold the pose, breathe, hold it some more until you can’t stand it. Then you repose (relax) by letting go to the same degree that you worked.

Here’s how I pose and repose for work-life balance:

1. REPOSE: In the morning I spend quality time hugging and kissing and doting on my kids. I really luxuriate with them and I don’t stress about the clock.

2. POSE: I put in my 8 hours of work, donating my mind and body to a better tomorrow. Yes I take breaks and yes I enjoy the time away from my kids. Hello, work is a mini vacation from parenting.

3. REPOSE: At around 5pm I shut it all down when I walk through the door. I re-calibrate to kid mode by ditching the analytic, data driven brain and entering into a more exuberant, sing-song, blah blah, let me feed you and throw balls with you and read to you and bathe you, bed you down kind of person. 4. POSE: Grab my laptop to plan for a smooth and focused tomorrow. Set my intentions, write my to do lists, catch up on a last email or two and then sleeeeeeeeeeeep semi sweetly.

Wait, that was 4 things…

I can also be found reposing at this Korean style bath house or the Happy Buddah followed by an Iceskimo. Weekends after all have their own unique pose and repose challenges.
